Description

This lesson trains the correct placement of safety cones around an aircraft to establish a protected work zone. Trainees learn standard coning patterns for different aircraft types and practice positioning cones safely and accurately to prevent unauthorized movement and ensure personnel awareness.

Lesson Overview

  1. 1Placement of cones near wingtips and in front of engines
  2. 2Adjustment of cone layout depending on aircraft type and surrounding service roads
  3. 3Verification of correct placement to define a clear, safe work area

Skills Acquired

  • Handle and position safety cones according to ramp safety procedures
  • Learn standard coning patterns for single- and multi-engine aircraft
  • Maintain correct spacing and alignment for maximum visibility and safety
  • Learn to adapt cone layout to local conditions or supervisor instructions

Lesson Procedure

  • The trainee begins beside the aircraft, collects four cones from the nearby storage area, and pockets them for transport.
  • Then, the trainee moves around the aircraft and places cones within one meter of each wingtip and in front of both engines.
  • Once the four cones are correctly positioned, the system confirms the proper coning pattern and concludes the lesson.

Safety Scenarios & Learnings
