Description

This lesson trains the proper technique for securing an aircraft's nose wheel with chocks immediately after arrival. Trainees learn to handle, position, and align chocks safely to prevent unintended aircraft movement during parking operations.

Lesson Overview

  1. 1Collecting chocks from the designated storage area
  2. 2Approaching the aircraft's nose wheel safely after engine shutdown
  3. 3Placing two chocks at the nose wheel

Skills Acquired

  • Position chocks correctly at the aircraft nose wheel
  • Verify chock placement to ensure the aircraft is securely immobilized

Lesson Procedure

  • The trainee begins at the apron near the nose wheel, where several chocks are placed in a pile. Instructions prompt the trainee to pick up two chocks and transport them to the airplane.
  • After pocketing both chocks, the trainee carefully approaches the aircraft nose wheel.
  • The first chock is placed in front of the nose wheel, followed by the second chock behind it, ensuring both are properly aligned with the tire surface for full stability.
  • The system confirms correct placement of both chocks, concluding the lesson once the aircraft is fully secured.
