Highlights

  • New training module "Pushback (Towbar): Live Operations": six new live operations lessons (Preparing the Pushback, Executing the Pushback — Right Turn, Left Turn and Dogleg, Finishing the Pushback, and Exam) that complete the full pushback course by training realistic operational scenarios at a live aircraft
  • New lesson "Pushback (Towbar): Obstacle Course": a free-practice cone course where trainees maneuver the pushback tractor with towbar attached, building steering confidence before full pushback scenarios
  • New language: Arabic (preview) — Arabic now available as a selectable language in the VR app, with right-to-left text support
  • Improved login flow for new users: clearer controller hints on the login screen and a "Start here" badge on the VR Intro course card help first-time trainees self-onboard without trainer assistance
  • Various further improvements including updated Headset Communication lessons, refined pushback driving feedback, and further bug fixes

New Module: Pushback (Towbar): Live Operations

Preparing the Pushback

  • Teaches the complete pushback preparation sequence at a live aircraft: inserting the steering bypass pin into the nose gear, maneuvering and coupling the towbar to the aircraft, and driving the tractor forward to couple it to the towbar.
  • Trains following the Headset Operator's hand signals throughout the tractor approach, including stopping on command and waiting for the all-clear before advancing.
  • Covers critical sequencing and safety: the steering bypass pin must be inserted before the towbar is attached; the towbar must be aligned straight during coupling to the nose gear.
  • Ends with confirming the front coupling is secure while the Headset Operator lifts the towbar wheels.

Executing the Pushback — Right Turn

  • Teaches executing a 90° right-turn pushback, driving alongside the Headset Operator on a live apron.
  • Trains the pre-pushback signal sequence: confirming the brakes-off signal and returning a thumbs-up to the Headset Operator before starting.
  • Includes a live hazard scenario: a tractor crossing the taxiway path requires the trainee to stop immediately on the Headset Operator's "Stop" signal and wait for clearance before continuing.
  • Requires precise final positioning of the aircraft on the taxiway centerline.

Executing the Pushback — Left Turn

  • Teaches executing a complete 90° left-turn pushback, applying the same procedures as the right-turn lesson in the opposite direction.
  • Adds an equipment failure scenario: shear pins break mid-maneuver, requiring the trainee to stop and honk immediately to alert the Headset Operator and cockpit.

Executing the Pushback — Dogleg

  • Teaches the most demanding pushback maneuver: a dogleg requiring two consecutive direction changes at a constrained gate position.
  • Set at night, adding low-visibility conditions on top of the most complex maneuver in the course.
  • Applies the full range of procedures from the previous executing lessons, with the complexity of the maneuver and the night setting providing the primary challenge.

Finishing the Pushback

  • Teaches the complete post-pushback procedure: waiting for the Headset Operator to disconnect the towbar from the tractor, repositioning the tractor, and driving the equipment clear of the taxiway.
  • Trains precise tractor repositioning while the disconnected towbar lies on the ground — a collision risk during the reverse maneuver.
  • Emphasizes waiting for the Headset Operator's thumbs-up at every stage before moving; starting early risks collision with personnel or equipment.
  • Concludes by observing the Headset Operator complete the final pushback steps: removing the steering bypass pin, disconnecting the headset transmitter, and giving the all-clear for aircraft taxi.

Exam

  • A 16-question exam covering all Pushback (Towbar): Live Operations procedures.
  • Topics include correct preparation sequence and bypass pin handling, interpreting Headset Operator hand signals, managing equipment failures, no-tow zone limits, correct post-pushback disconnection sequence, and final clearance procedures.
  • Confirms trainee readiness to execute pushback operations at a live aircraft as the pushback driver.

New Lesson in "Pushback (Towbar): Driving Training"

Obstacle Course

  • A free-practice area where trainees maneuver the pushback tractor with towbar attached through a cone course, without an aircraft attached, in a low-pressure environment.
  • Trainees must navigate the exact route, avoid hitting cones, and park precisely in the target zone; each cone hit is counted as an error.
  • Optional steering guidance can be enabled via the menu at any time, helping trainees who get stuck work through the counter-intuitive steering system.
  • No limit on attempts: trainees can restart immediately and practice as many times as needed.

Further Improvements — VR App

  • New language: Arabic (preview) — Arabic now available in the language selector with right-to-left text rendering; content review ongoing.
  • Updated Headset Communication lessons — customer feedback improvements applied, bringing them in line with the already-updated Complete Pushback lesson; dual jet engine startup now reflected correctly.
  • Refined pushback driving feedback — real-time path deviation now shown through a dynamic color indicator rather than voiceover; scoring tolerances adjusted based on customer feedback.
  • Updated Pushback Driving: Introduction — no-tow zone indicator added to the equipment walkthrough; steering demonstration restructured to teach the correct inputs needed to achieve a turn, rather than passively observing the same turn three times; redundant steps removed.
  • Improved login flow for new users — controller hints on the login screen and a "Start here" badge on the VR Intro card guide first-time trainees through onboarding without trainer assistance.
  • Removed standalone driving training lessons — Belt Loader Driving Training and Tractor Driving Training retired from their modules to simplify the module structures; additional driving instructions are now integrated into the first lesson that requires it.
