Upgraded Tutorial Module: VR Intro
Movement & Controls
- Introduces the foundational basics for operating in Virtual Reality.
- Trains using head movement to look at highlighted points in the environment.
- Covers primary UI interactions: pointing, scrolling, and clicking a button.
- Teaches controller-based movement (forward, backward, sidestep left/right) and turning (left/right) using the controller's thumbsticks.
Object Handling
- Trains two methods for object interaction (grabbing, holding, dropping):
- Hand-based object handling (using the controller's grip button) to pick up and hold objects.
- Raycast object handling (using the controller's trigger button) to pick up objects at a distance.
- Includes a guided part to teach the core mechanics, followed by a free practice to build proficiency.
Inventory & Placement
- Introduces the fundamental process for using the inventory system and placing objects in Virtual Reality, including migrating to a new improved inventory system UX.
- Teaches how to pocket designated objects by grabbing and then releasing the controller's grip button, moving the object to the wrist inventory.
- Covers retrieving (unpocketing) items from the inventory by pressing and holding the controller's grip button.
- Trains the placement of unpocketed objects onto designated drop-off spots.
- Includes a free practice section to build comfort and familiarity.
Retired lessons: Old VR Intro lessons have been retired, as they are fully replaced by the upgraded VR Intro lessons.
